    Hi All,

Below is my machine description for my portal, its only 1 domain on this machine and i'm using Cpanel to control everything:

    CPU: Single Pentium 4 2.6MhZ
    RAM: 1GB DDR PC2100
Storage: Dual IDE 80GB 7200RPM HDD
Hits: Up to 15 million per month
Bandwidth Per Month: 400GB (No MP3 or Downloading file)
    Additional Module: mod_gzip, mod_perl
    HTML Type: shtml, cgi
    MaxClient 170
    MaxRequestsPerChild 10000

    Report from 'top':
    4:24pm up 3 days, 7 min, 1 user, load average: 13.95, 18.21, 24.67
    219 processes: 187 sleeping, 26 running, 6 zombie, 0 stopped
CPU states: 41.2% user, 58.7% system, 0.0% nice, 0.0% idle
    Mem: 1031180K av, 885400K used, 145780K free, 0K shrd, 51608K buff
    Swap: 2040244K av, 63112K used, 1977132K free 505008K cached

On peak hours, it will up to 50 - 60 and sometime it gonna be 80 load average.

I need some opinion, whats suppose i do to make my machine on stable condition? Upgrade More RAM? Upgrade to Dual CPU? or only upgrade from IDE to SCSI? Which one are better?

    Please help.

26 running processes is rather insane...

    run: top -i

And copy the processes you can see running so we can take a look

Upgrade of RAM and CPU are definitely a must, 1gb of RAM is not at all good.

Also, try running easyapache and remove mod_perl, see how the load drops then.
