I went to password protect a directory today via cPanel -> Security -> Password Protect Directories and the option is no longer there. Any idea why or what might have caused this?

    cPanel 11.24.4-C35075

I've done some cursory searches but I'd figure I'd post just in case anyone can give me a quick answer.

    Thanks.

Did you click on the folder name? When I do, this brings up the settings page for that folder in my cPanel.

Perhaps your hosting provider has disabled this functionality?

Are you using FrontPage Extensions by chance?

I AM my hosting provider. I have my own server.

    Not not using Frontpage Extensions.

It was there at least a month or so ago. I haven't changed anything so I was wondering why the option would be gone across all my domains.

Thought maybe someone else had run into this.

Thanks for the help so far guys.

If the icon is missing from the Security box, it is probably the feature for "Webprotect" was unchecked (or the file was overwritten with a file without this option enabled).

If you go to WHM > Packages > Feature Manager and open the feature list that controls the domains, is Webprotect checked?

The other way is to go in ssh to /var/cpanel/features/ in shell and check the file to see if "webprotect=1" is in the feature file that is being used.

Hope this may be of help,
    Ron

    Thanks cpanelinfoseeker, THAT'S GOT IT.

Much obliged. I'd hoped it was just some setting I was unaware of or overlooking. Still not sure how it would have gotten changed but it's working again at any rate.

    Thanks!
