Outgoing Mail IP change

I am trying to change the outgoing mail IP of my server and I have entered the IP in
/etc/mailips and have also updated /etc/mail_reverse_dns and it works when I make the update. However it seems to only work for the day. I have also turned off cpanel automatic update. SO please tell me, what else am I missing.
