Outgoing mail server

    I cannot send emails with mail.domain.com , instead i have to use hostname.serverdomain.com
    I want the clients to be able to send emails via mail.domain.com

    what should i do?

    Hi there.. Please ask your web hosting provider to set the A for mail.domain.com and point it to server IP OR set a CNAME record and point mail.domain.com to domain name.

    I know i can add cname for mail.domain.com to point to hostname.serverdomain.com , but what about the new accounts ?
    I dont want my clients to use hostname.serverdomain.com

    FYI : I have root access

    They should be able to use mail.theirdomain.com once the account is fully propagated. So I would recommend waiting for the DNS propagation.

    I have tested on accounts that are a few months old...... i can recieve mail with mail.domain.com but cannot send
