    Hi All-

We're seeing that clients using Outlook, Outlook Express, etc have slow smtp delivery. Messages remain in the outbox for 50-60 seconds, even small test messages. Using their ISP's SMTP server sends right away. Webmail is fast to send, so it seems to be slow only using an offline reader.

We've tried it with & without pop before smtp, same result.
Tried it on account with and without SA enabled, same result.
Netstat shows auth getting done with rather quick, then a long established connection.

Anyone have same issue or have fixes?

    Thanks!
    Karl

Are you using RBL's in your exim config ?. If so make sure you do not have ORDB in it anymore. For some reason we had bizarre problems with SMTP from users and noticed ORDB was still in the list of black lists servers (ordb is gone now) and it was adding delays to everything.

    Check your resolver config.

I also have several users complaining that Outlook is sending very slowly. They say it started this morning.

I can't duplicate it nor can I identify a cause. They've been with me for awhile and things were fine until this morning.

Running cPanel 10.9.0C-117, exim-4.63-1_cpanel_maildir. I've not made any significant configuration changes or updated anything recently.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

We were going nuts with this one. We had it on a bunch of servers and were getting all kinds of timeouts. I didnt even think it could be this but doing "sendmail -bp" on some of the machines consoles showed weird timeout issues and for a few we saw the ORDB and I remembered
they killed the service a few weeks ago. As soon as we removed them and restarted our servers (all kinds running Exim, Sendmail, Mailenable, etc..) they all picked up speed.
I imagine MANY thousands of servers still have ORDB in their RBL setups and will not know what it is without lots of digging.
