    we had one of our cpanel servers crash and as a stop gap measure was going to overlay full cpanel on one of our dnsonly servers and change the ip to the lic ip. However what do you have to do to get layer1.cpanel.net/latest to install full cpanel and not dnsonly ?

    I'd also like to know if it's possible to upgrade a server from dnsonly to full version cpanel. Anyone have experience doing this? If so, what was necessary?

    Thanks

    This can be done
    edit /etc/cpupdate.conf
    you will see CPANEL=dnsolnly
    change this to
    CPANEL=release

    However you will need a license from this point forward.

    Thanks - that's very useful. I'll go license up my IP and make the changes.
