    Hello :)

cPanel handles the installation of Spamassassin, so installing it via YUM is not supported. It's intentionally excluded from YUM to avoid conflicts with the version installed by cPanel. You will find it on the "exclude=" line in the /etc/yum.conf file.

    Thank you.

    Hello crazyaboutlinux,

Since it isn't installed by rpm, can you explain why you are checking if it is installed? Is SpamAssassin not working? Normally, the best way to open up a thread is to explain why you are doing something rather than what you ran that didn't work. If you are checking for rpms due to the fact SpamAssassin isn't working (tagging messages, moving messages to a spam box, etc.), then that would be the best part to mention at the beginning of the thread. Knowing why you are trying to do something is usually the core of the issue and the faster way to get something resolved.

Now, if SpamAssassin isn't working, you can try to force reinstall it:

    Code:
    /scripts/installspam --force
If that doesn't work, check you do have it enabled in WHM > Tweak Settings like Infopro already suggested. You may wish to re-save the Tweak Settings area just to be on the safe side that it did take effect even if you did already have SpamAssassin enabled.

Next, check that specific cPanel account to ensure it does have SpamAssassin enabled for the account you think isn't working.

The SpamAssassin scoring for messages appears in /var/log/maillog, so you can also try sending an email to that email account and tail /var/log/maillog to see the results.

If you do have issues with SpamAssassin not working and the above does not work, please be precise in what error message you are receiving or what specifically is not working.

    Thanks!

i think there is something wrong with spamd , i have got more than 50 number of spamd failure emails, that's why i was checking this

spamd failed @ Thu Nov 10 16:22:04 2011. A restart was attempted automagically.

    Service Check Method: [check command]

    Number of Restart Attempts: 12

Cmd Service Check Raw Output: Spamd is not running
Raw Output: Subject: Test spam mail (GTUBE)
    Message-ID: <GTUBE1.1010101@example.net>
    Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2003 23:30:00 +0200
    From: Sender <sender@example.net>
    To: Recipient <recipient@example.net>
    Precedence: junk
    MIME-Version: 1.0
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

    This is the GTUBE, the
    Generic
    Test for
    Unsolicited
    Bulk
    Email

If your spam filter supports it, the GTUBE provides a test by which you
can verify that the filter is installed correctly and is detecting incoming
spam. You can send yourself a test mail containing the following string of
characters (in upper case and with no white spaces and line breaks):

    XJS*C4JDBQADN1.NSBN3*2IDNEN*GTUBE-STANDARD-ANTI-UBE-TEST-EMAIL*C.34X

You should send this test mail from an account outside of your network.

    Hello :)

I suggest opening a ticket with our staff so we can investigate what's causing SpamAssassin to fail. You can open a ticket using the following URL:

Please post the ticket number here so we can track the issue.

    Thank you.

Going forward, could you also post the error message showing in /var/log/maillog when spamassassin is restarted? Oftentimes, the error message indicates why it is failing. We can always provide some suggestions as to what might be the cause if we receive the error message for future users reading the forum to use to troubleshoot.
