Hi,
I'm new to WHM and and Cpanel on my VPS.
I'm in the process of trying to move websites from shared hosting accounts to my VPS. To give me flexibility, I'm leaving the domain nameservers with my domain registrar. I'm just re-pointing IP addresses to the different servers as I need to. The VPS platform is slightly different to the shared host platform, so I need to test copies of the live site that I've moved before re-pointing the web server IPs for the domain.
I've got a situation where I've created a cpanel account for one of my Joomla sites, e.g /http://www.example.com. I can access the site from /http://my-vps.com/~exampleaccount but some components won't when the path is like this.
So I created a DNS A record for www2 and pointed it to the IP of my VPS. I created a parked domain in my example.com cpanel of www2.example.com and left it pointing at the /public_html directory. I've had to configure the allowed remote nameservers in WHM to allow this to work.
My problem is that when I access the site, I get the basic text of the page but all of the other resources that need to load like javascript or css files are blocked with a 403 forbidden error message.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the security configuration or WHM misconfiguration that may be causing this. If I use the ~ method of accessing the account, the CSS and JS resources are allowed to load without issue.
