/ partition is 92 %, almost full.. help!

How can I know what directories are consuming the hard disk space..?
I tried to use "du -h" but it shows a long list of files and I can not find anything consuming all that space. This partition was 64% used 2 days ago, also the backups partition is in another 2dary drive...

Please, an easy way to know in what is used the hard drive space ?

    thzk!

    What OS are you running?

If RHEL or a derivative thereof, check if laus is installed and remove it as this will take up one heck of a lot of disk space storing audit logs.

If needs be, search the forums for 'laus' to find removal instructions.

type "df" and post the result here.

You probably have the / mounted on it's own partition, and it's filled with stuff downloaded by you as root, in the /root directory.

also, do a "du -sh /root"

and see if that's your problem.

That's not my problem, I never downlaod things except when I setup the server security such as mod security, tripwire, etc.... .

    191M /root

    Any ideas ?

I surely don't have any Laus,, I did a locate and only found this:

    /lib/security/pam_laus.so
    /lib/liblaus.so.1.0.0
    /lib/liblaus.so.1
    /lib/liblaussrv.so.0.0.0
    /lib/liblaussrv.so.0

Any idea about this rare thing?

    Now 93% consumed HD :S

    This is what I got:
But this is rare, I recently mounted /backup/cpbackup as a new partition in the 2dary hard drive for the backups, but assumming the system is wrong and is taken the backup files.. if you put all the GBs at the end of the list you will get 44 Gbs and the HD space is 72 GB, how can It be now at 93% used ??? Any ideas?, I already checked logs and downloaded files, deleted all and it doesn't change.
