    Hi all,

    Since upgrade to WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.17.0-R19434

    when I make a new account, the email notification of the account info:

    +===================================+
    | New Account Info |
    +===================================+
    | Domain: ....

    has PassWord: HIDDEN

    Is there a way or option to turn this back on? I would like the email with the password in it (again).

    Thanks!

    New Account Email Hidden Password

    Sometime recently, a change has been made in that the new account email that is sent comes with the password masked as ***HIDDEN***. I centrainly understand why this is, however, I have a couple of clinets complaining about this. I cannot find any way to get this behavior to revert to what it was previously.

    Does anyone know if we can revert this somewhere?

    The only emails generated by cPanel/WHM itself are send to resellers/admins upon account creation/modification. If this is an email being sent to your end-users, check with your billing software.

    No, its being sent to the admins, however, the way they are using it is one person is creating accounts while another is sending notices and they have been relying on the new account email to convey the username and password to the person handling client affairs. It has introduced an extra step they would rather not deal with.

    Am I explaining this adequately?

    I noticed this also. on our WHM installation - we create the accounts for our users.

    The password is hidden when being sent to the server admin

    It suddenly dawns on me why you might be confused. My clients are generally web hosting companies and by clients that is to whom I was referring.

    It would be nice to have the option to turn this on/off for certain resellers.

    This is some update from Cpanel not billing software, which is strange that Cpanel support didnt even know what we are talking about- any help would be appreciated or a fix would be more appreciated this is hurting the entire industry I would expect a prompt resolution

    Yeah... I would find this really useful myself. My clients are always asking me and I had always kept this email on file. The "forgot password link" does not always cover this situation.

    Hi,

    I like it this new way and i think this should be the default setting, much more secure.
    But i agree that there should be an option to turn it off.

    It is a default setting of WHM. I think to change this settings you will have to make a change in account creation file of Cpanel.

    I have opened ticket at cpanel support for that annoying "hidden" problem and I have received this answer:
    ----
    "This can not be modified. This has been added for security reason to prevent the server from sending account passwords via plain text emails. I apologize for the inconvenience."
    -------
    Very disappointed :eek:

    This is not acceptable. There needs to be a way to turn off and on this feature.
    This must have just come out in a recent stable release, because I have been getting complaint emails today on this issue.

    When will you guys fix this?

    Thanks!

    Tom

    An option to disable this security measure in Tweak Settings will be added in the next update sometime later this week.
