I recently had to have a re-image done. i restored all of the accoutns froma back up just fine. However I dont ahve password protected directories capabilities through Cpanel.

When I go to password protect a new directory I get

A password file was not specified in the directory's .htaccess file.
    This feature is not available.

Please enable password protection of the directory
in order to activate this feature

If I go to a directory that is currently enabled (was prev.) It goes to a blank page.

    Any suggestions or ideas?

    Thanks
    brian

It seems that the password file specified in ur .htaccess file is not present. To password protect a directory required .httaccess must have following entries..

    AuthName "username"
    Authtype Basic
    AuthUserFile /path/to/.htpasswd
    require valid-user

U can create .htaccess file and password for that directory by using following command ...

    htpasswd -c /path/to/.htpasswd username

Also make sure AllowOverride AuthConfig is set in httpd.conf.
