PEAR and safe_mode

Hello,

I don't understand why I can't use PEAR with safe_mode = 1

I try to change include_path, open_basedir in the user's php.ini with safe_mode = 1 , but I have the same problem.

Have you got any solution please to use PEAR with safe_mode activated ?

What is the best solution ? use safe_mode = 0 or = 1 ?
(I read safe_mode will be delete in PHP 6.0)
