permission denied via root access

root access, dedicated box

ssh in and "permission denied" when attempting to view my access logs


/usr/local/cpanel/logs/access_log


/usr/local/cpanel/logs/login_log


I have an email problem, my be part of a spam bot….

Have let the problem fester on this machine, tackling the gorilla now. Any advice, direction, and/or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure you have logged in a "root" and are viewing those log files with a specific command? For example, what command are you using when you get the "permission denied" errors? Also, have you checked the permissions/ownership values on these files?
