you would need a publicly acesssable ip (static)
and cpanel does not run well with xwindows

getting a static ip is not a big deal. i have been thinking about getting one for a while, and i would be willing to test it out for a few months. as for cpanel not working well with xwindows....do i take that to mean that xwindows should not be installed on the machine? or can i install it, but default to run level 3, and only run my window manager when absolutely necessary?

I would use a fresh os install minimal without xwindos (or cpanel may not install)
    then install it after cpanel

I ran xwindos on a machine with cpanel it ran ok (slugish) I would not recomend but it can be done I would use that combo in a production envrioment

and you can get a 15 day trial license at cpanel.net/store/
