Personally, i dont use PHP 5 because of one simple reason:

Most of the users on my server use Invision Power Board 1.x which has compatibility issues with php 5 i believe. Just a few days ago PHP 4.3.9 was in the buildapache. I cant wait till cpanel supports Apache 2 (A lot of bugfixes) and i also would like them to support the MySQL 4.0.21.

    Regards,
    Brent

i installed php5.0.2 on my 500+ server, with mysql 4.0.20. you must know how to configure php.ini for best compatibility witn php4.
some programs like coppermine gallery return some simple errors that everyone can find solutions in the net.

    (sorry for my bad english)
    have fun,
    Omid
