    [Mon Nov 8 20:27:56 2004] [error] PHP Warning: Unknown(): Failed to write sess
    ion data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is
    correct (/tmp) in Unknown on line 0

    [Mon Nov 8 20:28:02 2004] [error] PHP Warning: Unknown(): The session id conta
    ins invalid characters, valid characters are only a-z, A-Z and 0-9 in Unknown on
    line 0

    in :

    /usr/local/lib/php.ini
    &
    /usr/lib/php.ini

    session.save_path = /tmp (correct)

    is this a php error, or a error with some .php script on the server. ?

    Check the ownership and permissions on /tmp. If php can't write to /tmp, it's going to have problems managing session files!

    For me, /tmp is owned by root:root and has permissions of 1777. How does this compare to your /tmp?

    I just started getting the same errors. I do not have the /var/lib/php/session file. Do you think that may be part of my problem?

    thanks
