Not enough details to know what went wrong, but, recompiling Apache would be suggested I think. Did you note any errors on the last build?

not sure if this helps but what php handler did you choose ?i had similar situation when after easy apache compile i was presented only "none" as handler reason for it was tweak settings cpanel process memory option, raise it to 1gb atleast run easy apache choose handler as dso or whatever you like this fixed my problem.

More often than not, this is due to not setting the Apache Handler for PHP applications.
If you log into WHM, then navigate to "Configure PHP and suEXEC", check to see if your handler says "none".
If it does, set it to a handler appropriate for your server's needs.

You are a genius. My server was down for few hours due this problem. You saved my life. Just wanted to wish you a great life.

    God bless you! :)
