    I enabled the open_basedir security setting on whm and it does not work as it should. By using phpshell, I can still go out of my home directory. WHM adds the line as:
    <IfModule mod_php4.c>
    php_value open_basedir "/home/ihostliv:/tmp"
    </IfModule>

    But if you change php_value to php_admin_value it works.
    I am running:
    WHM 7.2.0
    Cpanel 7.2.0-R39
    RedHat 7.3

    Anyone else tried using this feature?

    I think it should be php_admin_value

    I tried that using phpinfo.php

    put phpinfo.php file which contains
    <?php
    phpinfo();
    ?>

    in a public_html of a non-excluded user
    and open it from http://

    Search for open_basedir you will see:

    open_basedir no value no value

    pico /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf
    search (using control+w) for the user domain name and replace php_value with php_admin_value

    save and restart apache (service httpd restart)

    reopen the phpinfo.php
    you will find :
    open_basedir /home/UserNameHere:/tmp no value

    I submitted a ticket
