When will this update be available to cPanel? I also noticed that Advanced Guestbook 2.3.3 is out, but cPanel still has Advanced Guestbook 2.3.1

    its already updated in cpanel

    WHM
    go to Addon Scripts

    then Save

then go back to Addon scripts it should be updated for you then.

it will download the latests for you

works for me this way if not
    then do

    /scripts/updatenow
/scripts/upcp --force (i dont think you need to do this but there it is)

I did the update, and went to my clients cPanel who has Advanced Guestbook and did the update to their guestbook, now I get errors for the guestbook:

    http://alisongrubbs.com/guestbook/index.php

Line 25 where the error is coming from is showing:

    include($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');

It looks like the phpBB index.php is in the guestbook directory now.

what i would do is if you have a recentbackup of your clients account
go back prior before you updated the guest book,

then do afresh install to see if this error shows up again

Is there any way for WHM or cPanel to actually go out and update to the newer AddOn Scripts on its own instead of going this route? Unfortunately, there were many Scripts on my box that were out of date because this wasn't updating on its own and I wasn't aware of this. Can this can be automated somehow?

No easy way that I'm aware of. You could have a look through the responsible CGI script and cobble something together yourself:

    /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/docroot/cgi/addon_addonupdates.cgi

Though, running it automatically seems like overkill for something that is a simple server admin task to do whenever new app releases are added.

Yeah, I suppose you are right. It is just somewhat cumbersome to keep on top of all the new release announcements for all the different AddOn Scripts that we have installed on the box. Just looking to simplify things :)

Horribly enough, I just saw a BugTraq entry go through for a new script injection vulnerability in phpBB 2.0.17  I think it's time that BB was taken out back and shot ;)
