funky.

How many of you are running version 6 ?

the reason I ask is that we would like to upgrade to v6 but we will not upgrade until we some of these issues resolved,

Calling version 6 as a stable release is a misconception imho, everyday I see more problems arising from v6.

I would have thought 3 months a reasonable period to evaluate.

*Udate*

Thanks Mike, I just ran a test and we are still running V5, installed a phpbb without a hitch on one of our sites, not to gloat really just trying to get a handle on the true situation with the recent upgrade to V6 , after all V5 has it problems as well.

How about a new thread on the forum, V6 problems and fixes? just to help people who have upgraded know quickly which fix applies to their V6 , some really helpful information at these forums has helped us out on many occassions.

Did anybody notify Nick? That should be done once 2-3 people have the same problems. If it's something that is happening on more than 1 system than chances are it's a bug. So do the proper thing and email Nick.

I opened a support ticket and the guy who reponded said: "This may be different than what you are used to. This process is correct however, the installer sets up the database and links you to the phpbb install."

I didn't think Nick liked when people emailed him directly with problems?

hmm that makes you wonder if they've tested it. If by a 'different' they mean 'totally screwed up' then yes I suppose it's correct.
It boils down to this - you can now no longer autoinstall phpbb which means your have to be able to work out the database information yourself. On cpanel5 it did autoinstall. Now how they can say this is the same is beyond me.
Seems like it's now just a straight file copy as opposed to any 'installation'.

seems to be NO response at all to this problem so can anyone tell me how I can downgrade to version 5?

Machine makes a note to himself to double check that the NEVER upgrade selection is checked in future.

Okay, here's a question for yous guys...
How can I make the phpbb autoinstall in a different language? phpbb is available in lots of languages, and I'd like to have it install in a different language.

hmm in r89 this is still broken apparently.

you try to install the forum and it creates the db and user properly and directs you to the phpBB install script. ok no prob

but what is the password for the db it created? cpanel p/w it is not (apparently)
