    Hi. I updated apache and cpanel on WHM. Updated cpanel to WHM 9.4.0 cPanel 9.4.1-C63 . And I can't auto install phpBB. I receive this message from Cpanel: There was a problem with the install! I've updated apache and updated to latest current cpanel version. Then I went back to latest cpanel stable version. But that didn't solve this issue.

    Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

    phpBB 2.0.8a Setup

    We are installing in /home/xxxxx/public_html/directory

    There was a problem with the install!

    I have MySQL version 4.0.18-standard. It was updated to this version in the last cpanel update a few days ago.

    in the config.php inside a phpbb install directory there will be mentioned the type of mysql used.

    check if that is correct. probably this must be a mysql incompatibility.

    basically if it a probem with the config.php file; you can just copy the database details from config.php file from any other install and modify the database details.

    that will help !

    I'm having the same problem and do not have access to any other config.php file. Would someone at cPanel respond with a solution that makes sense please! Obviously its a cPanel problem, and it's been complained about for over two weeks now. How 'bout a fix. Can someone who had it fixed post what was changed so we can all benefit? linux-image - can you post a generic config.php file at least? Mine's empty as well. PLEASE!

    <?php

    //
    // phpBB 2.x auto-generated config file
    // Do not change anything in this file!
    //

    $dbms = "mysql";

    $dbhost = "localhost";
    $dbname = "";
    $dbuser = "";
    $dbpasswd = "";

    $table_prefix = "phpbb_";

    define('PHPBB_INSTALLED', true);

    ?>

    mysql, localhost and phpbb_ should cover the majority of installations, but you may need to change the values to match yours. dbname, dbuser and dbpassword will of course vary per installation.

    Thanks SarcNBit. That partially worked, but I got an error that the config entry in the database did not exist. I think the overriding problem with the cPanel installation is the "install" folder is missing! The first error I got when I first installed phpBB from cPanel is it tried to take me to /forums/install/install.php, which does not exist. Isn't this required in order to set up the phpBB system?

    I can't find any info as to anything I should have done for preperation. BTW, this is my first time using phpBB.

    Any info would be greatly appreciated.

    That's the same problem everyone else is having. I wish cPanel would get on the ball and issue a fix.

    No comment on the cPanel version, but if you really want to play with phpBB why don't you just download and install it? Doing that, you are going to end up with a newer version than what cPanel was installing.

    If you really just want to offer it to clients in an auto-install manner then I would reccomend taking a look at Fantastico from Netenberg. Kosmo and co. actively support the product via their message boards and the product is much more robust than the cPanel script offering.

    I am not suggesting that cPanel should not work out whatever (if any) issue they have with phpBB, I am just offering alternatives.
