Hi there !

We have been facing severe phpmyadmin loading issues since whm upgrade to 64. Phpmyadmin 4.6.x seems to work very low inside cpanel whereas it works fine in whm. Any fixes ?

Hello,

Internal case CPANEL-12760 is open to track reports of slowness with the new version of phpMyAdmin included with cPanel 64. I'll monitor the status of this case and update this thread with more information as it becomes available.

Could you verify if you notice any difference when disabling "Use INFORMATION_SCHEMA to acquire MySQL disk usage" under the "SQL" tab in "WHM >> Tweak Settings"?

Thank you.

Yes, we tried disabling that option and also tried various solutions provided by support like optimizing mysql settings like query cache and table_open_cache etc. Nothing seems to work. The old version of phpmyadmin works fine [ 4.1.x ] where the cpanel update was not done. It has been many days since we reported but no solution so far

Any update? As we receive lot of emails from our customers regarding very slow or even not loading phpMyAdmin.
The case is active, and we are investigating to determine if this is related to existing bugs with phpMyAdmin, however there's no time frame available on when we might release an update to address the issue. I'll update this thread as soon as more information is available.

Thank you.

This has been pending for two months now. Any update ?
Hello @cachout58,

The development team responsible for this case is working on a change to streamline when database privilege updates are ran. This should help address the phpMyAdmin slowness issue. I'll update this thread again once we have a more definitive release time frame.

Thank you.

There's no update to report at this time, but I do see recent activity aimed at addressing the issue. I'll continue to monitor the internal case and update this thread with more information as it becomes available.

Thank you.

Hello,

To update, internal case CPANEL-12760 will help to alleviate the slowness incurred when a cPanel user accesses the phpMyAdmin page by ensuring the MySQL updateprivs function is no longer called unconditionally. There's no specific time frame to offer on the publication of this change (it should be in the next 64 maintenance release), but I'll update this thread again once it's released.

Note this won't completely eliminate the issue, as a separate case (CPANEL-14601) is open to address the slowness incurred when a reseller accesses phpMyAdmin while logged into cPanel with the cPanel username and reseller password. I'll monitor that case and update this thread with more information as it becomes available.

Thank you.

Hello,

In addition to the inclusion of CPANEL-12760 in cPanel version 64.0.38, we've also published the following case in cPanel version 66.0.22 to help address the slowness for users accessing phpMyAdmin while logged in with the account's username and password:

Fixed case CPANEL-14998: Remove interstitial page updateprivs

Additionally, internal case CPANEL-15796 in cPanel version 68 should alleviate slowness encountered when accessing phpMyAdmin using cPanel with the root or reseller password.

Thank you.

phpmyadmin in cPanel still slow, this update does not fixed the issue :( Customers still complaining.
Can you verify which version of cPanel is installed on this system? Note that in the event the slowness relates to access attempts to phpMyAdmin while logged in with the root or reseller password, internal case CPANEL-15796 in cPanel version 68 should alleviate that issue.

Thank you.

v66.0.23 on two servers. Issue reproduced on both of them. No reseller or root password used. Just regular user cPanel access - even small databases taking ages to load table lists, every operation taking 100 - 120 seconds. This leads to completely unusable phpmyadmin.

Hello,

To update, here's the corresponding section from the cPanel 68 Release Notes regarding a new feature to help address this issue in cPanel 68:

phpMyAdmin performance setting
In cPanel & WHM version 68, we added the Enable phpMyAdmin information schema searches setting to the Software section of WHM's Tweak Settings interface (WHM >> Home >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings). If you disable this setting, the system disables information schema searches by phpMyAdmin in MySQL. This may improve phpMyAdmin performance.
Thank you.
