    Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.5.6

    Wrong username/password. Access denied.

Then like in the backup menu I get this for my DB's

DBI connect('mysql:localhost','root',...) failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Mysql.pm line 42 (.. LIST OF MY DB's (wish not to share) . )

I tried rebooting my server, I tried forcing a update, no go.

    Do you have a mysql.sock in /tmp?

    If so, try symlinking...

    cd /tmp
    ln -s /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock

then restart mysql and see if that helps.

does is say "root" "pass" in quotes? Remove the quotes then restart mysql and see what happens.

    This worked great.

Thanks for the info, you wouldn't think that quotes would become a problem.

Btw were on redhat linux enterprise server.. so if anyone else has this problem on this kind of server .. be good to try this..

This should not happen in the current version and up.

I am not sure what this is all about... I did a backup then restrored the backup on my new server and this is what i see in the backup section for the mysql dbs

    Code:
DBI connect('mysql:localhost','root',...) failed: Access denied for user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: YES) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Mysql.pm line 42 drams meter vbforum
Its like trying to connect to something but cant but the drams meter and vbforum seem to work... the thing is that those i just named are the only databases i have in that account.

    Hi cPanelBilly.

    it does in:

    WHM 9.4.0 cPanel 9.4.1-S65
    Fedora - WHM X v3.1.0

Not only does WHM not connect to phpmyadmin, but this prevents mysql from making it into the nightly backups. If your WHM does not work guys you need to make sure youfix this if you have important database driven web sites.
