ping: icmp open socket: Operation not permitted

Anyone know how to fix this ?? .... yes I know it's 'better' to leave it, I trust everyone on my server. I've seen many threads on it but no one has posted a solution in any I've seen.

What it looks like you are doing there is using the ping command as a user and not as root. To allow the ping command to always run as root no matter what user is using the command, run the following command on the server as the user root:

    chmod +s `type -p ping`
