How was your server hacked? Did you restore your accounts?

this was a brand new install with only a few accounts on the server, I had backups from when I moved everything over from the old server ( plesk ).

it wasn't that big of a deal on the accounts.

My biggest concern is that I have rebuilt the server, and I know its just a matter of time before it gets nailed again, which is why I am willing to pay someone to secure it down for me.

I am by no means good with cPanel and have just started dabbeling in linux, so if anyone wants to make a few bucks - PLEASE HELP

not sure how it was hacked,

someone got in and changed the root passwsord and the passwords to the cPanel for the accounts - they also deleted the databases.

I am concerned as this WILL happen again and I really need to get this locked down so I can continue to populate the server with the accounts

My primary specialty first and foremost is network and server security and I personally
have more than 32 years professional experience in this field with a loyal base of
clients all over the world who usually want me specifically for all security matters
including a number who are also regular visitors here as well.

At the very least, I would be glad to take a look and tell you where
your weaknesses are and can make a few recommendations.

I can also probably tell you exactly how your server was hacked and
close that security hole for you so that it doesn't happen to you again.

On the other extreme, I can configure your server for you increasing the security
to the point where it is as close to impossible to hack as you will ever hope to get.

Contact me if you would like me to review your server ...

What kernel did you have installed on this server?

Spiral is well known and respected around the place.

Also platinum servers (not sure of URL) are good and well known.

And last but not least, www.configserver.com are also very good. You should definitely install their mailscanner package, and their firewall is the best available at the moment (more recent than APF and regularly updated).

There are quite a few other really good companies, these are just those I've heard of often.
