    Hi,

I am pretty new and stuck in the very first step of installing the Cpanel. I have read installation guidlines but still can not figure it out.

    In the guide it says

    To install cPanel and WHM

Make sure you are logged in as root.

    # cd /home

    # wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest

    # sh latest

But I don't know where to type those stuff in and how to log in as root.

I found the download link as a .sea file in this link http://layer1.cpanel.net/ but I don't know how to download it too

I saw somebody saying I must need SSH to download. I installed SSH and stuck there too.

I would appreciate your help very much. Thanks

    Phat

First, if you haven't done so already, download an application such as PuTTY. Once downloaded, open it and connect to the IP address of your server. You'll probably get a scary message about keys not matching, that can be safely ignored. Once prompted for a username, enter root and when prompted for your password, type your root password. Note, characters will not appear on the screen when you type your password. Simply press enter on your keyboard once you are done typing in your input.

If the login fails, please contact your VPS provider.

If login is successful, you will be brought to a screen with a # prompt. Type those commands without the # and it should download and install cPanel/WHM for you.

If you need further assistance, you may wish to contact your VPS provider.
