    Hi,

I have been using the PLESK to cPanel transfer for several very simple domains without any issues and to complete the decommission of my PLESK server, I have a couple of more complex domains to transfer via the automated transfer script and I am wondering if something will not be correctly carried over. Here are some of the main things I am concered about:

    1. email messages stored on the server.
    2. webmail users that created lots of folders in Horde for their email messages
    3. SSL certs, will these transfer over?

My biggest concern is the email messages that users on this domain have stored on the server and if they had created lots of folders, etc in Horde when they are using webmail.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Thanks Nick. I remember that this wasn't exactly the case in the past so you guys must have made a lot of improvements to the transfer stuff.

Thanks to the transfer scripts being used far more frequently, we have been able to isolate and resolve many issues in the transfer scripts in the past few months.

Of course, if you think something that Plesk for Linux natively supports isn't being migrated over to your cPanel/WHM server properly, please submit a support ticket. Also, don't hesitate to call our free Transfer Assistance Hotline.

I've tried calling the 866 number on your link for the transfer assistance and it doesn't even ring. Just a few clicks and then the "...if you'd like to make a call..." automated recording.

I have reported this to our system administration team. In the meantime, call us at our regular number: +1-570-443-7700 and ask to be transferred to David G. in Sales.

There are still a few problems to fix in the transfer script.

I recently transfered from Plesk 8.3 to cPanel and here are some thing to think about:

    - e-mail and domain aliases will not be transfered
    - location of subdomain directories are incorrectly transfered (missing the httpdocs directory)
    - I had to reset all e-mail passwords manually (fortunately Plesk keeps them in clear text)
    - database users will not be transfered
    - when changing account names, database names will still use the old customer name: olduser with dbname > transfers to > newuser olduser_dbname
    - PostgreSQL databases where not transfered
    - SSL certificates where not transfered (but I didn't have them on a specific customer)
    - Using a default Plesk install and a default cPanel install created to clutter in the customer directories (Plesk: /var/www/domainname/httpdocs > cPanel: /home/customername/public_html). The old statistics and httpdocs directory is also transfered but not completely moved to the proper directories. Because of these changes you have to take care of your (php) scripts and other web stuff dependent on file location things.
    - AWstats statistics are not automaticly merged with the new AWstats database files
    - Horde settings are not transfered (including search folders)

Although the datatransfer is a major help in transferring, it is not perfect.

Fortunately I didn't have many domains to transfer, so I did a lot of manual stuff to correct all this. Thanks for offering.

just wanted to post here as well to verify the problems that a.post mentioned.
I've been dealing back and forth with support regarding these issues for over 2 weeks and no luck at all yet. In addition to the below problems, domains from plesk that are standard or frame forwards will not be transfered - nor will the pop accounts associated with those domains.

Don't get me wrong, cPanel support has been great in trying to help, but as of now, there has been no remedy as of yet. Fingers still crossed.

In my transfer, I had the following problems:

    - database names get screwed up since cPanel appends the account name to the DB name.
    - database users are not transferred.
    - email redirects from plesk are not recreated.

    Hello,

Robert Boone and myself (Alex Villegas) are in charge of improving the transfer scripts.

If you could please open a ticket "ATTN Alex" and provide us the exact version of Plesk (or any other supported control panel) along with any relevant details of what is failing we will gladly look into it. If possible access to the source server would be helpful in order to troubleshoot it accordingly.

The transfer scripts are constantly under development, your valuable feedback can help us improve them considerably.

We look forward to addressing your transfer issues.

    Transfer Scripts?

Where are these transfer scripts? I'm currently on Plesk 7.5.4 and I'm fed up with some of the limitations so i'm moving to Cpanel. I'm a customer at a large hosting company which licenses both CPANEL and Plesk. Does this count as me having a license? I have multiple domains on Plesk, some of which have MYSQL databases that are used, need to get help with the migration.

    Thanks,

    Kevin

You need root access to the cPanel/WHM server to make use of our transfer scripts. Root access to the remote server you are transferring from is also required (if that server is running anything other than cPanel/WHM - e.g. Plesk).

To use these scripts via the WHM interface, go to WHM -> Transfers -> Copy an account from another server or WHM -> Transfers -> Copy multiple accounts/packages from another server. For server type, select Plesk if you are migrating from Plesk.

If you have root access to both servers, you are welcome to make use of our free Transfer Assistance Hotline: http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpwhm/cpanel11/transfer-asst.htm

As long as you have root access to the server and the server has a license, then you can do this :).

So I ran this the first time transferring multiple plesk domains and accidentally clicked dedicated IP, so the first account copied and the rest failed. Went back to re-do it and the rest are failing but now for a different reason:
