    Receiving via a POP Client - Outlook

    SquirrelMail works fine on sending and receiving to my yahoo email account however its emails end up in my Junk Mailbox.
    My SMTP and POP client, Outlook, sends emails without issue but it is not able to receive emails via POP3.

    On the receipt of emails Outlook keeps asking for a password and fails with:
    Task 'mail.mydomain.com - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92) : "Your e-mail server rejected your login. Verify your user name and password in your account properties. Under Tools, click E-mail accounts. The server responded: -ERR Authentication failed (bad password?)'

    I verified the username and password - still have a problem.

    Any ideas on how I can fix this problem with using Outlook?
    Any ideas on how I can make sure the emails don't end up in the Junk Mailbox

    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

    Here too

    I am also receiving this error with Outlook on all mailboxes in all domains on the CentOS 4.4 server running CPanel lastest stable build.

    I checked ownership and permissions and they are all good. Resetting the password does nothing too.

    Help would be greatly appreciated as clients are in a tizzy.

    Fixed

    In a roundabout way I fixed this server this morning. CentOS 4.4. latest stable cp/whm

    in /etc/xinetd.d there was no pop-3 file as there is on other servers which are FC4 so i created this file.

    pico -w /etc/xinetd.d/pop-3

    added this to it:
    # Converted by inetdconvert
    service pop-3
    {
    socket_type = stream
    protocol = tcp
    wait = no
    user = root
    server = in.qpopper
    server_args = -sR
    disable = no
    }

    Control X to save and exit. Then restarted xinetd & cppop:

    /scripts/restartsrv_xinetd
    /scripts/restartsrv_cppop

    Then i chkconfig --list and pop-3 was now listed as ON under xinetd services. Immediately all my Outlook mail worked fine and that of my clients.

    It looks like our system is using popa3d and popa3ds.
    Both existed in /etc/xinetd.d/
    Both are running are on according to chkconfig --list
    Any ideas?

    popa3d reads:
    service pop3
    {
    disable = no
    socket_type = stream
    wait = no
    user = root
    server = /usr/sbin/popa3d
    # log_on_success += USERID
    # log_on_failure += USERID
    }

    popa3ds reads:
    service pop3s
    {
    disable = no
    socket_type = stream
    wait = no
    user = root
    server = /usr/sbin/stunnel
    server_args = /etc/stunnel/stunnel.conf-pop3
    }
