    Possible to host only email for a domain?

    Hello all;

    A user would like to accept mail on his CPanel account for several domains he hosts elsewhere.

    Here is the basic idea:

    domainA.com MX = mail.domainA.com
    domainB.com MX = mail.domainA.com
    domainC.com MX = mail.domainA.com

    where domainA.com and its MX entry are the user's existing hosted account with CPanel and all other domains he wants to keep the existing DNS (so he can use dynamic DNS etc.) but have mail.domainA.com handle all mail for all domains.

    Is this possible? If so, how would we go about configuring this?

    Thanks,
    Ian.

    I believe the easiest setup would be to create domainA.com, domainB.com and etc. on the email server as normal accounts, then modify the DNS zone files to point to the correct WWW server, FTP server and so on.

    this second step may not even be necessary, depending on how things are setup. The MX records on the original DNS should point to the "duplicate" domains on the email server; since no WWW traffic will be sent to the email server, just smtp/pop/imap traffic, all should be well.

    domainA.com MX = mail.domainA.com
    domainB.com MX = mail.domainB.com
    domainC.com MX = mail.domainC.com

    (domainC.com IP = 10.0.0.1, mail.domainC.com IP = 192.168.0.1) for instance.

    Thanks! This may work nicely for the user.

    I appreciate the response. :D
