anyway to tell cpanel to upgrade to postgresql 8.x branch??
put in a feature request maybe?
/scripts/installpostgresql should install whatever release your OS vendor supplies, e.g. RHE3/CentOS3 will install v7.3.10. If you want anything else, you will have to install it manually.
Any idea on how we do it manually?
I've never installed it from source, but I wouldn't have thought it any different from any other app. The main issue would be how and whether cPAnel will interact with it.
if you are using redhat, centos or fedora you can use the fedora core 4 postgresql src.rpm packages. You can recompile them with rpmbuild and install them on your system. You can find postgresql-8.0.3-1.src.rpm package on the fedora core 4 SRPMS directory.
