I want to update Apache just to install Postgresql (which it says it must be installed how do I know if it is or not?). Do I have to select everything else to keep them active or would I only select those to update/install? If I want to keep for example GZIP do I have to check it again to keep it or would checking it only update it? If I left it unchecked would it remove it?

In WHM at the top in the sidebar if postgresql isn't installed it will give you an option to install it.
