I currently have my box set so that it does not show directory listings, but i want to set it so that my clients can override it with .htaccess.

No matter what i change the settings to, it will either:

    - turn off directory listings server-wide and not let users override it
    - turn on directory listings by default, and let users turn it off by overriding it

What should i set my httpd to for it to:

-turn off directory listings server-wide by default, and let my users override the setting using Options +indexes in a .htaccess?

In access.conf change Indexes to -Indexes

Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...
