Previous reported issue with client getting error regarding server email

I thought I would get an answer on how to get the feature to work as it should, not a thread that ended up in a recommendation on how to disable it.

I have my email address configured with the intent that people could reach me. I had a client contact me yesterday through the interface, but instead got the misconfigured error mentioned previously.

If I wish the feature to work as intended, how do I get it to work?

I am running as root, not a reseller accounts, all users are root user accounts.
