Hi I'm a bit slow with these things (tech support will confirm this) but should my primary nameserver be the same as my primary Ip xxx.xx.x.xxx

    ns1.mydomain.com - xxx.xx.x.xxx

and my secondary be a new IP

    ns1.mydomain.com - xxx.xx.x.xxx

Also when I auto assign a IP for ns1 in whm it gives ns1 an IP different to primary ip of the server and then gives the secondary nameserver the primary ip.

Is this normal? I thought the first IP which looks like this - xx.xx.x.xxx might serve another purpose on a VPN box!

Any enlightening tips will be greatly appreciated - SLEEP WELL FOLKS

depends on your ip.if you have 3 ips.. you can use 1 for main ip, and the other 2 for ns1 and ns2.. you need to set in your domain registrar..

    Thanks Don

:) Cheers Don I seem to have ticked those boxes now, still not working though but I'll get there!

Just out of interest is there a disadvantage in running the primary nameserver on the same IP that you log into Whm on?
