Hello Guys,

One of our existing customer have brought the following request below in regard to add new DNS entry. It seems he tried before such as to add it through CPANEL it wasn't work? Same problem with ''DKIM '' so that why, he ask us to do it manually..........

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
*.newsletter.ax2.ca CNAME newsletter.ax2.ca
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally I have tried with WHM WEB HOST MANAGER:
Main >> DNS Functions >> Edit DNS Zone under
Add New Entries Below this Line but there's a place to copy a ''hostname '' so I get mixed -up now..

2 THINGS...I NEED TO FIGURE HOW TO DO IT? ESPECIALLY ON WHM if POSSIBLE. AND FOR MY PERSONAL KNOWLEDGE WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF DOING THIS SPECIAL '' * '' ENTRIES...?

Thanks

PATRICK

I'm sorry Don - your advice is incorrect.

It isnt possible to setup a wildcard entry. Try it for yourself.

If a customer tries to use the advanced editor and enters *.sub.domain.com. the validation doesnt allow it - with a red exclamation mark "Name must be a domain with an optional period at the end."

Can you posibly advise if it is on your "todo list" to add functionality for wildcard entries via the cpanel zone editor?

The Simple and Advanced DNS editors allow creating wildcard records in cPanel & WHM version 11.28.
