Problem downloading .mpg .avi .wmv files

My customer has a site with these format types for download:
.mpg .avi .wmv

When I try to download them it asks to save as HTML document and when I try to play it with Windows Media Player it is failing.

Is there any configuration that should be done in httpd to fix this issue ?

Go on, have a guess
That should not be anything to do with the server. I would guess that either there are problems with the users browser settings, or the files have been uploaded in ASCII and not BINARY format.
