    Several users on one of our servers have the following files in their directories:

    /home/USERNAME/public_html/cgi-bin/extlib/URI/telnet.pm

    I have been unable to tell what this file is. The contents of the file are:

    Code:
    package URI::telnet;
    require URI::_login;
    @ISA = qw(URI::_login);

    sub default_port { 23 }

    1;
    The file does nothing when executed alone via ssh prompt or the browser. All of these sites appear to be using Movable Type. Is this something I should be worried about, or is it an innocuous file included with MT? Port 23 *is* blocked by our firewall, and telnet is not running.

    Well, that is what I was worried about, but I can't find any way that it is accessed, so I can't verify it. Has anyone ever seen this particular file?

    I could be wrong, but isn't it a Perl module?

    It is a perl module. It allows people to access OUTSIDE telnet sessions, now that I look at it.

    Our firewall blocks connections OUT on 23 as well as IN, so it should be no problem.
