    Hi Guys,

    I have problem when sending from yahoo, and gmail; i got delivery failure:

    FROM YAHOO:
    Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
    I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following
    addresses.
    This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

    <userid@sub.example.net>:
    Connected to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX but my name was rejected.
    Remote host said: 220 *******************
    I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too
    long.

    --- Below this line is a copy of the message.

    [NOT WRITTEN...]

    FROM GMAIL:

    This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification

    Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:

    userid@sub.example.net

    Technical details of permanent failure:
    PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 7): 500 unrecognized command

    Go on, have a guess
    You need to check /var/log/exim_mainlog when you send an email in and watch for errors/messages

    I dont know how!!!

    Hi guys,
    I've hacked it!!!

    the problem was the multi-line first response SMTP BANNER [you will find it in /etc/exim.conf]:
    smtp_banner = "${primary_hostname} ESMTP Exim ${version_number} \
    \#${compile_number} ${tod_full} \n\
    We do not authorize the use of this system to transport unsolicited, \n\
    and/or bulk e-mail."

    I've changed it to one line, and restarted exim:
    smtp_banner = "${primary_hostname} ESMTP Exim ${version_number} \
    \#${compile_number} ${tod_full}"

    I don't have a logical explanation, but you know...

    Regards for all,
