or most likely you have 2 instances pop3 running are you an a VPS

check for this and disable it cpanel does not need it
    /etc/xinetd.d/popa3d

    service xinetd restart
    service cpanel restart

    Hi Buddy :)

Can you confirm that the domain name entries are available in /etc/localdomains and /ets/trueuserdomains files.

If recreating account in Outlook Express does not help, recreate the account again from the control panel and then give it a try.

    nano /etc/xinetd.d/popa3d
    change disable = no to
    disable = yes

    service xinetd restart
    service cpanel restart

    Same thing happening here

All domains verified and included in /etc/localdomains and /etc/trueuserdomains

In /etc/xinetd.d there is pop-3 (enabled) and pop3s (disabled)

I restarted exim, eximstats, cpanel, eximup --force, chkservd, upgraded cpanel from Release to Current - still doesn't work.

    I ran fixmailman, fixcommonproblems

    Still doesn't work.

These steps (from other threads) did not work either

    service xinetd stop
    service cpanel restart
    service xinetd start

    1) Remove account from Outlook
    2) Turn off Outlook and restart it
    3) Re-add the account
    4) DONE! should be working all fine.

I created a brand new account, did not fix it

    - go to /etc/xinetd.d
    - pico every file with the word "pop" in it and make sure disable is set to "yes" on all of them
    - restart xinetd
    - restart cpanel

    /scripts/reseteximtodefaults

    chmod 644 /home/*/etc/passwd
    chmod 644 /home/*/etc/*/passwd

    Nothing works

SSL stopped working at the same time too, forgot to mention that.

2087, 2096 - they do not work at all

the above fix was for a VPS under virtuozzo
but the same aplies you may have another pop3d running you just have to find it and disable

check you running processes for somthing other than cpanel's

    run
    ps ax |grep stunnel

to see if stunnel is running

I think you need some one to login into your server and fix both your issue,, Or I else I would suggest you to place a trouble ticket with cpanel support.

That really does not help as I've been logged in and trying to fix it myself anyway.

Yes... sometimes we are not able to catch the problem even if it is in front of our eyes but others may get in in mins...

There is one man for sure who can fixed any damn problem if you do not trust any one else... He is no one by our own Chirpy.. :D

    Tech response:

This was occuring because a non-cpanel courier imap configuration existed on this server, which was binding the imap, pop, and stunnel ports. I have stopped courier-imap and courier-authlib, removed both of them from the init order, restarted cpanel, and all cPanel service were able to successfully bind to their respective ports after doing so.
