Hello, I am in need of some help, I am new to having a VPS, so please bear with me.

From WHM, I am trying to access the branding editor using whm.marchal-mathieu.ca

When I do that, I get redirected to the following url when I click on the live editor: /http://cpanel.marchal-mathieu.ca/cpsess4740378227/login/?session=cpanel9q_tHt8WXxpng8iF1yIGhXiDIBdltGCw7uTmdW7UIebb2EnhbRgtF8KPKOgj

this url generates not the branding editor, but a 404 not found.

This is the url I get redirected to, when I access WHM by IP and this works fine:

So the following url, does work after manually adding port:

I added an A record to my domains DNS zone, so cpanel.marchal-mathieu will resolve, but that doesn't work, because the port (2082) doesn't get added to the url on redirection when I click on live editor, like when I access the branding editor by IP.

Any tips on how to get redirected properly in WHM from my domain would be very much appreciated.

Do you mean the branding editor for cPanel? If yes, you don't access this from WHM, you access if from cPanel on a reseller account.

So, you'd log into the reseller account, and click the icon for the Branding Editor.
You're not setup it sounds like to be redirected on login to stay on a secure port. (you can change your redirection settings in WHM > Tweak Settings > Redirection tab)

When I access the Branding Editor as reseller in cPanel (not WHM) the URL is:

This scenario:

this url generates not the branding editor, but a 404 not found.
Has been reported in a recent ticket where using whm.domain.com returns a 404 error in a browser for some areas of WHM. In that recent ticket, the issue was due to mod_security blocking the proxy request, since whm.domain.com and cpanel.domain.com are proxying ports to port 80.

Can you try shutting off mod_security temporarily to see the results? You can also check the logs for mod_security or Apache at /usr/local/apache/logs/ locations when getting the 404 error to see what is being output.

The set error that happened in the ticket was similar to the following as reference (and this error was showing up in /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log location):

[Tue Apr 12 11:10:09 2011] [error] [client IP#] ModSecurity: Failed to access DBM file "/var/asl/data/msa/global": No such file or directory [hostname "whm.domain.com"] [uri "/somepath"] [unique_id "ID#"]

That just means you need to create those directories. Modsecurity tracks some stateful information in DBM files in those directories, make sure you follow the installation directions here:
