I transferred a cpanel backup from another server and restored it on a new server.

After repointing the DNS, everything came up fine except mail.

I cannot login into the new server for imap or webmail.

I have checked and reset passwords to no avail. I created a new test mail account and that doesn't work either.

If I go to domainname.com/webmail I can log into cpanel which show 3 choices for webmail, Neomail, Horde, or SquirrelMail. Choosing any of them has the same problem of asking for reauthentication. I use the same username/password and auth fails.

Any help or ideas welcome. Thank you.

    Try restarting the below services:

    /etc/init.d/courier-imap restart
    /etc/init.d/courier-authlib restart

Also check the logs at /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log, see if you get any.

I found that the problem was the transfer mail files were in mbox format and CPanel was expecting maildir.

I ran ./convert2maildir from the scripts directory and everything began to work.
