Edge = Bleeding Edge (Daily)
Release = Standard Release (Weekly)
Stable = A Release build which has proven to be good in the field (Monthly)
Note: these times are approx.
In general
Stability : Stable & Release & Edge : New Features

By considering above, there is a problem;
When you select &Release tree& for updating cpanel, only Release tree will be installed and if a newer stable release revealed Cpanel will not install it.
i.e Release 193 and Stable 194
if you select release tree your system will not upgrade to stable 194
This is also the same for EDGE
Stable tree is ok when you select Stable latest Stable will be installed.
Release and EDGE trees in general should be:
1) When you select EDGE tree Cpanel should upgrade to latest version which could be either Stable, release or Edge versions
2) When you select Release tree Cpanel should upgrade to latest version which could be either Stable or Release
