After updating mysql to version 5.0 im having a bunch of random problems with
    it.

First off, when I try to start mysql it says:

/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Access
denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)' mysql has failed,
please contact the sysadmin (result was "mysql has failed").

Also, when opening cpanel for any accounts on the server to restore mysql
database backups, it displays the following:

DBI connect('mysql:localhost','root',...) failed: Access denied for user
'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES) at /usr/local/cpanel/Cpanel/Mysql.pm
    line 42

    anyone got any ideas?
