Problems with Apache loading with Mod Security

We keep getting the /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start: httpd could not be started

We ran the httpd test and receive the below error:

Syntax error on line 266 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot add module via name 'mod_security.c': not in list of loaded modules

How do we get the mod_security placed into the loaded modules?

You just need to follow the instructions for installation on mod security site. When you install it via /usr/local/apache/bin/apxs it will place the necessary lines into httpd.conf

The install is through WHM

We are using the WHM Mods install for Mod Security. The only guess is that the install is not completing properly or we have a bad copy of the tar ball. We have never had any other problems using WHM with Mod Security on any of our other servers. This is only happening on one server. By what you’re saying, if we do the manual install all should work. Has anyone seen this problem before in WHM? We couldn’t find it in any of the helps or forums.

did you try removing the module from whm and adding it back?

if you have some error in cpanel scripts, then try

/scripts/upcp --force

I am compiling mod_security myself because I want to not allow users to disable it in .htaccess
