Problems with pop3 and smtp (newbie)

i got this server to send email to my clients, however i am having a problems with getting connected to the server, i have tried with my email sending program, then i also tried to just set-up my email account on outlook, but it did not recognize the server. I know this sounds simple to some of you and i hope you can help, thank you very much

Hello,

What is the exact error message you are receiving? What are you using in your email client for the server's incoming and outgoing name?

Also, is webmail working for the same email account?

I am using pop.mail.sitename.com, and smtp.mail.sitename.com the error that i get is could not find server. The man that i ordered the server from set the account up for me with several email addresses, i know how to make them, just can not get the server to work at all

Please use either mail.sitename.com or sitename.com rather than pop.mail.sitename.com and smtp.mail.sitename.com for the incoming and outgoing server name.
