Does anyone know how to fix the following log errors?

    PAM-listfile: Couldn't open /etc/ftpusers
server1.domain.com (111.111.111.111[111.111.111.111]) - PAM(user@hosteddomain.com): User not known to the underlying authentication module.
server1.domain.com (127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]) - FTP login timed out, disconnected

I get several of these every day, is it normal or is it fixable?

Oh and the file /etc/ftpusers does not exist....

Is anyone else seeing this in their log files? I find it hard to believe that I am the only one with these.

    Go on, have a guess
It's because cPanel don't use the following directive. Just stick it at the top of your /etc/proftpd.conf file and then stop and start proftpd:

    AuthPAM off

    /etc/init.d/proftpd stop
    /etc/init.d/proftpd start
