    I attempted to switch from proftp to pureftp via the FTP configuration, and it appeared to download the latest pureftp and install, however the last lines show it restarting the proftp server.....

    20:29:32 (700.96 KB/s) - `pure-ftpd-1.0.20-10.tls.i386.rpm' saved [205287/205287]

    Preparing... ##################################################
    pure-ftpd ##################################################
    Using configuration from /usr/share/ssl/openssl.cnf
    Generating a 1024 bit RSA private key
    <snip>
    Waiting for ftpserver to restart....
    <snip>
    ftpserver status
    <snip>
    20:29 0:00 proftpd: (accepting connections)

    Running WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-C131

    Proftp also shows in the ftp client as well... how can I fix this?

    As an update, I tried this on 2 other servers and it worked fine. Seems to just be an issue with the one server so far. Will switch the rest over and see if there are any others that fail, and log a ticket on the one for now.

    update*
    2 servers total failed to update properly...5 went fine.

    Try updating the scripts first:

    /scripts/updatenow

    Then try switching. If it still fails, log a ticket with cPanel support.

    are they working on a fix for this? is there a way to configure pure-ftp to be able to use windows explorer like proftd can? Many of my clients like that feature.

    Yeah, I tried that first. On one of the failed servers it errors with:

    Got file ./wwwacct ok (md5 matches)
    mv: cannot unlink `/scripts/./wwwacct': Operation not permitted
    mv: cannot remove `/scripts/./wwwacct': Operation not permitted
    mv: cannot move `/scripts/./wwwacct-cpanelsync' to `/scripts/./wwwacct': Operation not permitted

    On the other failed server it completes successfully. I was trying some other things today before submitting a ticket, but nothing seems to work.

    Looks like that is what I'll be doing now. Thanks for the response.

    That suggests that you have chattr'd that file. What do you get from:

    lsattr /scripts/wwwacct

    If it comes back with anything other than dashes:

    chattr -i -a /scripts/wwwacct

    Yeah yet again...cPanel tech pointed that out last night while working on the server. I forgot I had done that.. I can update fine, but still no luck on switching over. After spending a considerable amount of time on one of the servers, Michael Photakis, cPanel tech, had no resolution to the issue. Ticket still open, hopefully will get resolved soon.

    I'm in the same boat. When I make the switch via WHM, or manually "/scripts/ftpup pureftpd --force", it downloads the pureFTP RPM, and all seems to go OK until the server restarts which reference proftpd and not pure.

    WHM 10.3.1 / cPanel 10.4.0-C160
