proFTPd cannot create folders

Recently, users have noticed that aditional FTP accounts cannot create folders over FTP.
- default FTP users (without @domain) can use FTP just fine
- aditional FTP users (with @domain) can upload files, but cannot create folders.
- error after "mkdir <folder_name>" is: 550 <foder_name>: No such file or directory
- Nothing was changed in the configuration, and it seems the problem started with the cPanel upgrade which upgraded proFTPd to 1.3.5rc1-0
- Folder permissions are fine, also tested with 777
- Happening on both cPanel installations we have
- Syncing FTP passwords did not help

You should submit a ticket to cPanel.

Yeah, I did, but IMHO cPanel should be the one to inform it's customers about a known bug in one of its critical components. At least in the form of an announcement or as a sticky.
