This is happening because there are duplicate entries for those IPs in the proftpd.conf file. If you manually edit the file and delete the duplicate entries those error messages will go away.

Well yeah I have duplicates for those IPS's cause those are shared IP's

But yeah.. I just noticed this recently..

Each entry, although it may be a duplicate IP, does not duplicate the hostname..

    hrmmmm

duplicate IP's = no, just entry for each shared account (only once) and this started since the 1.0.20 upgrade.

Please put in a ticket, you have to have dupes somewhere, or this is a bug in proftpd itself.

To get your proftpd.conf rebuild from scratch

    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/ftpup pure-ftpd
    /scripts/ftpup proftpd

Looks like upgrade putin duplicate IP's all around the proftpd conf files, as running that command mentions that im already on the latest version
Have removed the duplicate entries manually

    Thanks

    After upcp to CURRENT_37
    ftup --force

Now this being a fresh install should have had everything correct.
    No problems with reinstall.
the conf file however is populated with duplicate entries.

Ditto. Same here. Add-on FTP accounts are refusing to validate their logins.

I am VERY disappointed. I've had over 1,000 complaints now because of this. This is not acceptable.

Any way to go BACKwards? I"d rather have 1.2.9 than 1.2.10.

I switched over to Pure-FTP temporarily and my users with add-on accounts are now able to login. Anyone else having this difficulty might want to try it until Cpanel gets the problem fixed. Also, if you run APF, you may want to flush your firewall because a few of my users got themselves banned for too many incorrect login attempts.

    1) Check your config file for duplicates in /etc/proftpd.conf

solution) switch to pure-ftpd, switch to back proftpd. This will rebuild your config from scratch

    2) Check for errors in /var/log/messsages and /var/log/security.

The only way I have found this works is when I ftp to "localhost"

Apparently its the only one thats checking the /etc/proftpd/passwd.vhosts file.

This still does not solve the user@domain.com login problem.

The only way proftpd is checking the passwd.vhosts file (the one that actually contains the user@domain.com names and passwords) is when its called from localhost as far as I can tell. I tried using my server's hostname no luck, I try using the ftp.domain.com method, no luck.

This is NOT a config file problem.

    Try

    /scripts/updatenow
    /scripts/fixproftpddupes

that will give you a nice new clean config file.

I cannot verify this (I can login to my addon accounts on my personal website just fine.)

If you open a ticket, myself or one of the techs will be happy to resolve this problem for you.
