    Hi,
I am getting proftp problems for some time . I am running Proftp 1.2.4 on WHM 7.0.5 cPanel 7.0.5-E14 with RH 8.0.

Users with dedicated IP can login with no problem. For others it is giving a 530 error.

The error in the logs is : no such user 'username'

I tried stopping and restarting the service few times also tried to switch back and forth between Pure-ftp and proftp. It has solved similar issues in the past.

It is not working this time.

When I restart FTP in whm, I am getting this message in /var/log/massages

Jul 20 11:32:03 phoenix proftpd: proftpd shutdown failed
    Jul 20 11:32:04 phoenix proftpd[2445]: phoenix.mydomain.net - Failed binding to 0.0.0.0, port 21: Address already in use
Jul 20 11:32:04 phoenix proftpd[2445]: phoenix.mydomain.net - Check the ServerType directive to ensure you are configured correctly.
Jul 20 11:32:04 phoenix proftpd: proftpd startup succeeded

    netstat -tlnp|grep :21 Gives me:

    tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:21 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 2092/

    Any ideas??

    Thanks in Advance,
    Aji

Try with command below in SSH

    /etc/rc.d/init.d/proftpd start

    Good luck

Yeah domains with dedicated ips are exempt from including the domain name within the username, shared accounts need to provide the the domain name within the username due to the fact that it is shared. Lots of domains on the same ip, this keeps problems from happening if a few people from other domains make the same username.
